Bella Cena's cozy ambience and hearty portions of Italian inspired, yet innovative foods, interprets the name perfectly; Bella Cena means Lovely Dining. The large space is smartly divided into cozy seating areas giving diners a semi-private table to enjoy their meal. A separate bar area has additional seating as well as a dance floor API STD 1104 and stage featuring nightly entertainment whether it's Tuesday Dance Night, Thursday Comedy Night or Live Band Night on Saturdays.
General manager and co-owner Jerry Sovesky has been in the restaurant business for over ten years. At Bella Cena, he along with Executive Chef Tom Crisan have created a menu of dishes that reveal unexpected twists and turns that will excite your tastebuds. When I asked Jerry what his favorite thing on the menu was he replied, "Tortellini in a Rose Cream Sauce with Grilled Chicken. I have it at least once a week."
If you're up for trying new cuisine, seasonal offerings are added to the menu on a regular basis. What I love about Bella Cena is their use of fresh herbs and the pride they take in not only how good the food tastes, but how good it looks. We eat with our eyes and at Bella Cena, your AWS D1.1 mouth is going to love what you see.
I started off with Proscuitto Wrapped Peaches. Perfectly ripened peach quarters wrapped in delicate slices of prosciutto ham and fresh mint leaves sprinkled with a light drizzle of olive oil. The combination of sweet and salt with the essence of mint was delicious.
I highly recommend the Penne Carne Amante and the Pork Chops Oreganato. This is where the twists and turns get exciting.
Penne Carne Amante is a huge dish of "can't stop eating it" pasta. Imported penne pasta is cooked and tossed with big, thin slices of pepperoni, homemade meatball, italian sausage crumbles, bacon then coated with homemade sauce. Wait, it gets even better. It's then covered with mozzarella cheese and baked to meld the flavors. The dish is garnished with fresh herbs and a sprinkle of romano cheese. As you break through the gooey cheese you'll get a forkful of a blend of pasta perfection. I couldn't stop eating this dish.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, out comes the Pork Chops Oreganato. The menu says "generous portion", I'm not exaggerating when I say these pork chops are two inches thick. The chops are crusted in Bella Cena's Oreganato spice blend then charbroiled and served with a side of spaghetti garnished with roma tomatoes and a fresh sprig of oregano. I've never seen pork chops this big and was very surprised at how moist and tender they were. The aroma, the flavors, absolutely delicious.
If you're in the mood for a steak try it smothered style. Choose from porterhouse, strip, sirloin or filet mignon then ask for it smothered. Your steak will be grilled to order and topped with onions, peppers, mushrooms and garlic in an oriental glaze. The twist is the thick, rich glaze, so much flavor. Order a side of Redskin Mashed Potatoes to sop up every drop.
Open for lunch, Bella Cena offers homemade soups, burgers, sandwiches and amazing salads. The Chicken Oreganato Salad is at the top of the list. Fresh chicken breast rubbed with that famous Oreganato seasoning. Served on a bed of romaine and radicchio, fresh roma tomatoes, pepperoncini, feta cheese, onions and fresh cut fries. Everything is so fresh, the chicken is moist, the fries are hot, dress it all in Bella Cena's homemade Italian dressing. This is not your ordinary chicken salad. With huge portions and food that is this good, it's going to be hard, but you must save room for dessert. At Bella Cena, they don't bring out a dessert menu, they bring out a dessert tray. On any given night you might see Creme Brulee with Berries, Limoncello, Tiramisu, Cookie Dough Cake, Sorbet, Carrot Lava Cake, need I say more? If you choose the Limoncello or Creme Brulee, you even get to keep the glass.
Take your time when looking over the menu, just when you think you know what you want, you'll read on and find something else that makes your mouth water. Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed, but be prepared, you will be back again. It's that good.
